  • Behind the lagoon of Lake Toba that spans across North Sumatra, an enormous destructive force is hidden in it. Finally, about 74,000 years ago, Mount Toba erupted and almost finished humanity. The eruption known as the Youngest Toba Tuff (YTT) is the most powerful and forms a lake (caldera) as it is today. Releasing at least 2,800 cubic miles of magma into the air, YTT's eruption became the largest on Earth in the last two million years.
